Even those who don’t gamble will occasionally play casino games. Casinos are by reputation one of the most sociable forms of gambling and this is no coincidence. Strangely enough, the term ‘casino’ derived from the Italian word ‘Casa’ which means small country villa or pavilion. However, over time the word was used to refer to buildings built for pleasure- which were usually just large villas. The large villas were often used to host functions that would include music, dancing and of course, gambling. Casinos have become a global phenomenon and nowadays the term no longer refers solely to a house of gambling. There are actual casino games and you can even play online casino! The words blackjack, roulette and poker all spring to mind when we think of casinos, but is the social aspect lost when playing online? Although the glitz and glamour of a casino building can’t be translated onto our screens should one opt to play online casino, there is still a strong social atmosphere. Playing online can be just as interactive as playing in the flesh, and perhaps even more so, as you can play with people from all over the world. However, some websites are better than others. Like with most things, if the social aspect is what you’re after, it’s a matter of trial and error. For those that are new to playing online, we’ll point you in the right direction. Here’s our pick of the week; 888 Casino.
